This Privacy Policy explains how Volo ("the App") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our aviation toolkit designed for airline pilots and aviation professionals.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to Volo and its related services, including calculators, reference lookups, airport notes and drafts, PDF export and sharing, aviation data lookups, Volo News, and optional notifications.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the App.

2. What Volo does and how it works (high level)

Volo is built with React Native / Expo and provides aviation utilities including (non-exhaustive):

• Crew rest time calculator for 2, 3, or 4 rest periods
• Cold temperature altitude correction calculator
• CTOT departure planner
• Flight times calculator
• Meter-to-feet altitude conversion table
• NAT HLA route verification (great-circle calculations)
• Ops Suitability with OFP airport lists, TAF weather highlighting, time-filtered NOTAMs, and METAR/TAF/NOTAM lookups by airport code
• Departure Assist with available departure times, runway, SID, stand, and route information
• Arrival Assist with shared pilot notes, airport search and maps, offline caching, and synced drafts
• DGR Assist with English and Turkish drill summaries
• PDF export and sharing for results
• Customizable dashboard, text size, and light/dark themes
• Volo News and optional notifications for likes on your airport notes

Calculators and bundled references run on-device. Fresh aviation data is requested through Volo's authenticated backend. Account services, note and draft syncing, news, notifications, and subscription checks also use network connections. Previously cached notes can be read offline.

3. Information we collect

A) Account and profile information (via Supabase)

If you sign in, authentication is handled through Supabase (a hosted backend-as-a-service). We store user profile data in Supabase including:

• User ID
• Email address
• Full name
• Public pilot display name shown with shared airport notes
• Avatar URL
• Subscription tier (free/pro)
• Subscription plan (monthly/yearly)
• Subscription start/end dates
• Trial start date and Apple transaction identifiers used to associate purchases with your account
• Linked account information, if you choose to link accounts
• Account creation/update timestamps

We do not collect your Apple ID password or Google password. Sign-in occurs through Apple/Google authentication flows.

B) Subscription and purchase information (Apple StoreKit on iOS)

If you subscribe to Volo Pro on iOS:

• Payments are processed by Apple via StoreKit.
• We do not receive your full payment card details.
• We may receive and store subscription status information (e.g., plan type, active/expired status, and related dates) to enable and synchronize Pro access.

Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled.

Note: If we offer subscriptions on Android or Web in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.

C) Calculator inputs and aviation data requests

Calculator inputs and NAT route calculations are processed on your device. When you request weather, NOTAMs, airport information, or departure details, the relevant airport codes or callsign are sent to Volo's backend, which requests data from aviation providers. Usage events can include calculation counts, outcomes, and selected DGR codes as described below.

D) Local device storage

Volo stores data locally to remember your settings and support offline use, including:

• Theme, text size, and dashboard layout/order
• Onboarding, tutorial, release-notice, and paste-tip state
• Authentication session and cached subscription/trial state
• Cached airport notes, recent airports, drafts, and pending sync changes
• Notification preferences and registration status

On mobile, this uses AsyncStorage and a local SQLite database. On the Web, it may use browser storage (e.g., localStorage/sessionStorage and/or cookies) to maintain preferences and session state.

Volo does not use tracking cookies or any cookies for advertising purposes. Any cookies used on the Web version are strictly necessary for functionality (e.g., maintaining your session).

E) Clipboard access

Volo reads clipboard text when you use a paste action, such as pasting route data or an OFP airport list into an input field.

• Volo does not continuously monitor your clipboard.
• Pasted text is handled as input to the feature you use. Airport codes extracted from an OFP are sent to the backend when you request aviation data.

F) Network/technical data (limited)

When the App connects to external services, those services may receive standard internet metadata such as:

• IP address
• Device/browser user-agent
• Request timestamps

We do not embed third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in Volo. We record our own usage events in Supabase as described below. Standard server logs at service providers may also exist as part of their normal operations.

Volo does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

G) Airport notes, drafts, votes, and linked accounts

Arrival Assist stores notes you publish, including their airport, visit date, operational and layover details, author ID, display name, and timestamps. Published notes are visible to other users. Votes and airport view counts are also stored to support ranking and review.

Unfinished drafts are saved locally and synced to Supabase when connected. Drafts are accessible to your account and an account you explicitly link, rather than to the wider pilot community. Linked accounts can access and manage shared notes and drafts. Note content may include locations you enter, such as airports or hotels; this does not use device GPS tracking.

H) Usage analytics

Volo sends usage events to Supabase linked to your user ID. These include screen views, tool openings, calculation outcomes and input counts, search query length, selected DGR drill and cargo codes, settings changes, subscription interactions, and taps that open the App Store page or review screen. Events include a timestamp and, where applicable, a screen name. We use these events to understand how the app is used and improve it.

I) Optional push notifications

If you enable notifications for likes on your airport notes, we register a device push token and store it with your user ID, platform, notification preference, and registration timestamps. Notifications are delivered through Expo and the platform push service. Delivery records include the note identifier and delivery status. You can turn these notifications off in Volo Settings or your device settings.

J) Bug reports and feature requests

Feedback submitted in the app is stored in Supabase with your user ID and message. Bug reports also include your device model, operating system, app version, and build number so we can investigate the issue.

4. What we do not collect

• No advertising identifiers
• No third-party analytics or advertising tracking SDKs
• No Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.
• No in-app ads
• No sale of personal data
• No background location tracking (we do not collect precise location data)
• No access to contacts (unless your OS shares something through a feature you explicitly use outside the App)

5. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

• Provide authentication and account access (Supabase)
• Store and display your profile information (Supabase)
• Determine and synchronize your subscription entitlement (free/pro)
• Provide core app functionality and user preferences (theme/onboarding)
• Publish and sync airport notes, drafts, votes, and linked account access
• Fetch requested aviation data and display Volo News
• Deliver optional airport-note like notifications
• Understand app usage and investigate bugs using account-linked usage events and feedback
• Provide customer support (if you contact us)
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations where applicable

Legal basis for processing (EEA/UK users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Contract performance — authentication, profile storage, and subscription management are necessary to provide the service you signed up for.
• Legitimate interests — maintaining security, preventing abuse, and improving the App, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
• Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose data under applicable law.
• Consent — where required (e.g., optional communications), which you may withdraw at any time.

6. Third-party services and data sources

A) Authentication and backend

Supabase provides authentication, profile and subscription storage, note and draft syncing, votes, usage analytics, feedback storage, news, notification records, and the aviation data proxy.

B) Sign-in providers

• Apple (Sign in with Apple)
• Google (Sign in with Google)

These providers process information according to their own privacy policies.

C) Aviation data sources

Volo sends authenticated requests to its backend for aviation data. The backend queries configured providers, which include:

Important: Volo may also query other publicly available aviation data sources for departure and flight information. These third-party sources may change, be unavailable, rate-limit requests, or provide incomplete/incorrect information.

D) Maps and notifications

Airport maps use the platform map service, including Apple Maps on iOS. Optional push notifications use Expo and the platform push service. These services process the requests and technical data needed to display maps or deliver notifications.

7. When we share information

We share information only as necessary to operate the App:

• With Supabase to operate the backend services described in this policy
• With Apple for processing subscription payments via StoreKit
• With Apple/Google for authentication (Sign in with Apple / Google)
• With aviation data providers through the backend, using airport codes or callsigns needed for your lookup
• With other users when you publish an airport note, including your public display name and note content
• With an account you explicitly link, to share access to your notes and drafts
• With Expo and the platform push service to deliver notifications you enable
• With the platform map service when you view airport maps

We do not share personal data for advertising, and we do not sell personal data.

8. PDF export and sharing

Volo can generate PDFs of supported calculation results, weather and NOTAM reports, reference tables, and individual airport notes. You can share them using your device's sharing features.

• PDFs are generated on-device
• If you choose to share a PDF, it is sent to recipients/services you select
• We do not receive the PDF unless you separately send it to us (e.g., for support)

9. Data retention

Supabase account/profile data is retained as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.

If you request account deletion (see "Account deletion" below), we will delete or anonymize account/profile data from our systems within 30 days, subject to:

• Legal obligations that require longer retention
• Security/fraud prevention
• Encrypted backups that may persist for up to 90 days before automatic rotation

Local preferences, cached notes, and drafts may remain on your device or browser until cleared by the app, you clear app data, or you uninstall the app or clear browser storage.

Account deletion

You can delete your account directly from the App by navigating to Settings, opening Manage Account, and selecting "Delete Account." You may also request deletion by emailing us at contact@launchspace.org. Account deletion removes your profile, authored airport notes, drafts, votes, feedback, usage events, and associated notification registrations from the active database. A linked account remains a separate account. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active Apple subscription. You must cancel it separately through your Apple account settings.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information. However, no system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

11. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own depending on where service providers operate. Supabase infrastructure used by Volo is hosted in the United States.

When required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border data transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights such as:

• Access to personal data we hold about you
• Correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion of your data
• Data portability
• Objection/restriction of certain processing

California notice (summary): We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

13. Children's privacy

Volo is intended for airline pilots and aviation professionals and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where the GDPR applies). If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the applicable age threshold, we will promptly delete that information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at contact@launchspace.org.

14. App Store privacy label

Apple displays a privacy summary on Volo's App Store listing. This policy describes the app's data handling in more detail. If you notice a discrepancy, please contact us using the address below so we can investigate and correct it.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the App or on our website.
